Age Action Ireland
Age Action Ireland is an independent organisation set up in 1992 and comprises 2000 members, primarily older citizens plus statutory, private, voluntary and professional organisations. It has 70 full time staff and over 520 active volunteers. Our primary role is advocacy through mobilising older people to become advocates, advocating at national and individual levels, and gaining support from the general public and key interest groups. As well as advocacy we run a range of activities including lifelong learning, getting started computer training, care and repair and carers support.
Age Action Ireland has recently launched its Global Education Programme to bring a global perspective on active ageing to its own work, the Irish public and the work of Irish development agencies. Our approach is based on active citizenship, using interactive material which incorporates analysis, reflection and action.
