Formal Education Working Group
To collect and showcase examples of good practice DE in schools
To make submissions on new curricula and policy in the formal education system An initial collection of Good Practice DE in Schools has been made and a second call will be issued in Autumn.
Submission on 2 new short courses for senior cycle are being prepared
Minorities Working Group
To integrate the perspectives of people from new and/or ethnic communities in Ireland into DE
Community Sector Working Group
Putting the local back into development education.
Improving development education's ability to effectively link global development issues with 'live' local development issues in communities.
Building awareness of and uptake of development education in the community sector.
26th Oct: Connecting the Global to the Local: Engaging Local Communities in Development Education: A Showcase, Carmelite Centre, Dublin 2 9:30am- 4:30pm
Communications Working Group
Raise awareness of DE through events, projects, media work etc using accessible language and tailored initiatives.
10th Oct: Media Mapping Meeting (IDEA office)
Any members with an interest in how DE engages with the media are welcome to attend this brainstorming and mapping meeting to devise strategic ways to achieve this.
Research Working Group
To encourage IDEA members to engage more with development education research and support development of the IDEA Research Community.

Quality and Impact Working Group
To improve our understanding of measuring the quality and impact of DE
(This new group has yet to be formed and to decide its agenda)
Regional Working Group
To ensure the needs of members in the regions of ireland are met. To ensure that there is a regional provision of DE.
