Respond! is Ireland's largest not for profit Housing Association. We seek to create a positive future for people by alleviating poverty and creating vibrant, socially integrated communities. We do this through providing access to education, childcare, community development programmes, housing and other supports.

Respond! was founded in Waterford City in 1982 and now works national in the Republic of Ireland and also in Kokstad, South Africa. Respond! is essentially an anti-poverty agency founded to alleviate poverty in all its forms, particularly those in housing need.

Respond! College (an operating unit of Respond!) also offers a number of accredited courses including:

  • BA in Housing & Community Studies (BAHCS) degree validated by QQI-HETAC. Part-time degree open to mature students (over 23 years);

No formal entry qualifications are needed – just an interest (and ideally experience) of housing and/or community involvement.

  • Part-time degree in housing and community studies an excellent way to deep one’s knowledge and skills and gain a degree qualification.
  • Certificate in Housing  Practice -  accredited by the CIH: Chartered Institute of Housing, UK. Introduction to housing issues for those interested in exploring/progressing a career in housing.

Courses are tailored to the needs of particular groups and agencies (we can deliver training on site in your offices, subject to our numbers)

Our main training centres are: High Park, Grace Park Road, Dublin 9, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois,  Blackpool, Cork City, and Oranmore, Co. Galway.

By arrangement, however, we can deliver training at a wide number of locations nationally.
