Self Help Africa
Self Help Africa has almost twenty-five years experience in bringing lasting solutions to poverty for Africa’s rural poor.
A wide variety of innovative technologies are used to assist the people we work with to achieve sustainability in their lives. We bring simple and effective innovations to farming, managing natural resources and helping people access basic services like clean water, healthcare and education. These approaches are cost effective and practical ways of tackling the very real challenges faced by Africa's rural poor.
More than 120 schools across Ireland are actively involved with Self Help Africa's development education programme - hosting workshops, running events, and participating in a broad range of activities designed to raise awareness and improve understanding of the challenges facing people in sub-saharan Africa.
'Africa Alive' is Self Help Africa's innovative Development Education programme - offering teachers and students the change to engage in a very real way with the continent and its people.
