SUAS Educational Development
Founded in 2002, Suas Educational Development is a movement dedicated to supporting high quality education in targeted under-resourced communities, with programmes in India, Ireland and Kenya.
Suas is proud to provide a range of activities for young people in Ireland, covering community building, awareness raising, development education and fundraising. We engage young people with the challenges of social development and equip them with the confidence, capacity and life-long commitment to effect positive change.
There are now 12 Suas societies nationwide with approx 3,000 members across Cork (CIT, UCC), Dublin (TCD, UCD. DCU,RCSI, DIT), Galway (NUIG), Maynooth (NUI), Queen's University Belfast and Dundalk (DKIT). These are involved in a range of activities including fundraising, debates, seminars and local community projects.
Our Global Issues courses support informed debate and constructive engagement by young people with social and development issues in Ireland and abroad. Respected national experts host evening seminars at ten locations across Ireland. Each evening begins with a presentation (Education, Debt, Trade, Conflict, Environment, Equality, Gender, Trafficking etc), and the seminar develops based on questions and comments from those attending. Courses begin each Autumn and Spring.
