Description of Work in DE
The Irish Jesuit Mission Office (IJMO) has been involved in delivering information sessions to teachers and students regarding mission/development programmes since 2010. Workshops included issues pertaining to: - Education - HIV/AIDs, vulnerable children ( orphans and refugees) - Sustainable livelihoods - small scale farming, appropriate technology, environmental protection - Social justice – reconciliation, gender issues, emergency and relief issues In 2014, the IJMO put in place a professional development education (DE) service with a dedicated officer to develop and implement a DE strategic plan using IJMO programmes, partners and projects as case studies where appropriate, with Ignatian Spirituality as the driving force. The IJMO communications/marketing unit has taken training in Dtalk’s Dóchas Code of Conduct on The Use of Images and Messages and is cognisant of its principals in all IJMO communications.
