IDEA & Comhlámh: Creative Fair with Creativity & Change and Global Harmonies

CREATIVE FAIR

With ‘Creativity and Change’ and ‘Global Harmonies’

Date: Wednesday 26 July 10.30am – 4.30pm (registration from 10.15am)

Fee: €10 for members of IDEA/Comhlámh. €20 for non-members of IDEA/Comhlámh (fee includes lunch)

This interactive day will take participants through a range of creative tools to enhance your Development Education practice for work with people of all ages. It is designed to give you an injection of creative energy and confidence; inspire you to be a change-maker among the people you work with; help you to support others to explore our unequal and interconnected world, and to take action about your concerns, working towards a better, more equal world. The day will run as follows:

  • Introduction to Development Education themes and issues: by IDEA and Comhlámh
  • Global Harmonies: Rachel Dempsey (MA Ethnomusicology) is a Development Education professional who has 20 years’ experience of running 'Global Harmonies: Music, Voicework & Singing for Transformation' workshops. This session will allow participants to experience how music can offer a powerful dimension to your Development Education work. 
  • The Change-Maker session: Led by facilitators from the Creativity and Change programme, Claire Coughlan and Helen O'Keeffe, this training will bring a creative energy to Global Citizenship/ Development Education. We believe that creative engagement can support transformative learning experiences that connect the head, hand and heart and nurture competences of global citizens. The activities vary but include, stencil making, stop motion, chalkboard posters, creative writing, and badge-making. For more information, watch this video.
