Support for IDEA members around the Annual Grants Round
With the Irish Aid Annual Grants call opening in early October, IDEA is running a number of workshops and webinars to provide support for members. A workshop on Strengthening the ‘Results’ element in Development Education project planning and bid-writing will be held on Tuesday 13 October, 10:00 – 1:00 at the IDEA office. This workshop will be facilitated by Niamh O’Grady, who has much experience with results-based management. On Tuesday 20 October, 11:30 – 12:30 we will hold a webinar in which IDEA staff will go over the Annual Grants application form, section by section. On Tuesday 27 October, 3:00 – 4:00 pm we will hold a webinar concentrating specifically on governance issues within the application form. And finally on Tuesday 3 November, 1:30 – 4:30 pm at the IDEA office, we will hold a clinic in which applicants can get together with IDEA staff to discuss specific questions arising from the application form.
The Results Workshop costs €25 for members and €50 for non-members. Concessions are available for members. The webinar and application clinic are free but are open to IDEA members only. For more information and to register, please contact Susan@ideaonline.ie.
As part of our work on measuring the impact of Development Education, IDEA is working with Comhlámh and Dóchas to host a set of two participatory workshops on Monitoring in Development and in Development Education on Tuesday 6 October and Thursday 8 October.Find out more...
Light the way - Action2015
Over 150 people gathered on the Millennium Bridge, on 24 September, to represent Ireland as part of action/2015's global #LightTheWay event ahead of the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals by World leaders in New York last weekend. A big thank you to everyone who supported it either by sharing the event or by joining us on the bridge. Find out more and read the message of support from the President Michael D. Higgins.
Challenging the Crisis News!
As part of their work with action/2015, the Challenging the Crisis team have just launched their animation outlining what Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) is and how it supports the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. It’s a really engaging resource for introducing people to both topics. Watch it here.
The ‘Challenging the Crisis’ website was also launched over the Summer and is now available in all 6 Project languages. Check out the website here. We would also urge you to sign our online petition to get SSE on the political and economic agenda of national and European policy-makers by asking for a ‘European Year for Social and Solidarity Economy’ in 2018 here. SSE is the campaign topic chosen by the YGAs as part of the Challenging the Crisis Development Education Project. Please share it with your contacts via social media and on your website!
In other news, Young Global Advocates (YGAs) representing each of the project’s 6 partner countries travelled to Berlin in September to attend the Solikon and RIPESS Conference on Social and Solidarity Economy. The YGAs presented the campaign for a European Year for SSE and met with the Chair of the European Parliament Intergroup on Social Economy, Sven Giegold MEP. Find out more...
