DEAR Call

As a result of our DEAR Call information session, 07 April, IDEA is setting up a group to help facilitate the identification of potential partners. If your organisation has been contacted by a potential EU partner and you are not interested or not in a position to explore this particular opportunity, we would like to share this information with other IDEA members. Please contact susan@ideaonline.ie (mailto:susan@ideaonline.ie) if you would like to join the information-sharing group and/or if you are aware of an interested organisation that you are willing to share.

Development Education Conversation Series

Session One: Global Citizenship Education

IDEA will be running a series of Development Education Conversations throughout 2016. These will be informal evening sessions, providing the opportunity for anyone interested in Development Education to explore various aspects of theory and practice. We are delighted that our first session will be convened by Maria Barry (PhD fellow at the Centre for Human Rights & Citizenship Education, St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra) on Tuesday 19 April, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, in the IDEA Office. Session Two: Development Education: where we've been and where we need to be

The second session in our Development Education conversation series will be convened by Colm Regan (co-founder of 80:20 Educating and Acting for a Better World and of developmenteducation.ie) who has been a key thinker and activist for Development Education in Ireland for nearly 40 years. Stand.ie is a website exploring global justice issues featuring articles written by volunteer contributors. Suas is looking for a range of members who have an interest in/experience of writing, editing, taking photos, making videos/podcasts, creating visuals, conducting interviews, social media marketing to join the group. The Community Foundation for Ireland Announces Grants

Over €600,000 will be awarded to community and voluntary groups across Ireland to increase the sense of belonging in Ireland for Refugees, Transgender Identities and Experiences, and Families at Risk of Homelessness is now open. The IPB Community Engagement Fund

The €1m IPB Insurance Community Engagement Fund is now open for applications. The purpose of the fund is to support projects rooted in the local area, led by local people and to improve the quality of life for those living in their community. DEAR Call 2016

On 18 March the European Commission launched a Call for Proposals for “Raising public awareness of development issues and promoting development education in the European Union” known as the 2016 DEAR Call. The deadline for concept notes is 01 June. Find out more...
