Do young people care about the world? We want to find out! IDEA’s Challenging the Crisis project is launching a Public Opinion Survey to understand how young people feel about social justice and global development issues. Please share it FAR AND WIDE! The more respondents we get the more useful this information will be to us all. Read more…
IDEA held a successful first meeting of the Governance Pilot Project- more news on the activities of this group as the project proceeds.
Frank will be representing IDEA and DEEEP at the CIvicus/UN event next week in Istanbul on Public Mobilisation On Post-2015 process and we’ll hear from him on it in the next e-circular.

Inspiring Global Citizenship- well done! EIL are currently inviting applications for their Global Awareness Programme, an exciting training, volunteering and awareness raising project focusing on two areas: HIV/AIDS and the Environment. Deadline 5th March.

EU News

DEEEP are facilitating the development of a Global Citizenship Education Target for the successor programme to the current Millennium-Development Goals. They will work with many experts worldwide in the next months to develop a concrete target proposal. If you are interested in joining this common development process, please contact Maarten, the DEEEP advocacy officer, as soon as possible. The process will end at the Conference on Global Citizenship Education in June 24-25 in Brussels. www.deeep.org

DICE Project seeks Researcher / Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant. Deadline 5th March. The researcher will be required to: a)  produce a briefing paper on the feasibility of developing a shared evaluation tool that could be used across the five colleges of education to: capture data on the learning outcomes and overall impact of the DICE project among key target groups in each of the colleges; enhance and share learning; inform project revisions; and feed into the project’s performance management framework. b) develop this evaluation tool if considered feasible. Full details available at: http://www.diceproject.ie  Enquiries and proposals to: siobhan.sleeman@dcu.ie.

Attached (PDF) is the first research paper to emerge from the Global Learning Programme for England. The purpose of the paper is to stimulate discussion and debate about how the principles and concepts behind development education and global learning are applied within formal education.
