GENE Report Launch
The Global Education Network Europe (GENE) launched their report ‘Global Education in Ireland’ in Iveagh House, Dublin, on Tuesday, 24 November. Irish Aid invited GENE to conduct the first peer review of Global Education and Development Education in Ireland. IDEA members have been deeply engaged in this process through Task Groups on Formal Education, Youth Sector and Adult and Community Sector which developed strategic priorities, recommendations and analysis for the GENE review. This work by IDEA was acknowledged at the report launch by Seán Sherlock TD, Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Helmuth Hartmeyer, Chair of GENE. You can read the report here and in particular the submissions from the IDEA Task Groups which are included as appendices to the report.

Webinar on European Funding Opportunities for Development Education
This webinar, taking place on Tuesday 8 December 12:00 to 13:00 (GMT), will provide an overview of the current European funding landscape for Development Education. IDEA Director Frank Geary will introduce the topic and will be joined by Maarten Coertjens, Advocacy Officer at DEEEP, who will provide us with updates and latest news and thinking around the anticipated 2016 European Commission DEAR (Development Education and Awareness Raising) calls. European funding represents a significant opportunity for Irish Development Education organisations, but developments in this area can be complex and difficult to follow, so log into our webinar and learn more about what’s coming down the pipeline in 2016.
