IDEA Submission on CSPE Short Course

IDEA welcomes the CSPE Short Course on Citizenship as an essential opportunity to foreground social justice issues within the formal curriculum and infuse a global dimension into teaching and learning. Key points in the submission include:

  • The proposed change of CSPE from a mandatory assessed subject, to an optional short course could have significant impact on how Ireland meets its commitment to development education and education for global citizenship as outlined in current policy
  • Further information about the implementation of the short course should be included in the design, in order for teachers and students to engage with the material in a confident and effective manner 
  • Changes proposed in this submission will enhance the impact of the CSPE short course in creating active and engaged global citizens.

Event Management Consultant

IDEA is seeking a consultant to support its team in organising the Annual Conference and 20th Anniversary on Wednesday 04 September. This will include support in various areas as described in the Terms of References. The IDEA annual conference is a core part of our work and has been held annually for over a decade. More information on all previous conferences is available on our website and specifically here for 2023 and here for 2022 . This year the theme focuses on the impact of GCE in Ireland and we will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of IDEA. Please submit your CV highlighting relevant experience, referees for similar work, and a brief proposed plan/methodology. This proposal should include a proposed no. of days and staff involved (if relevant) and fee to anya@ideaonline.ie . The full Terms of Reference is here .
