Training: Tools for online Development Education sessions

Start Date: 27/03/2020 End Date: 27/03/2020

Event Location: Online via Zoom (webinar)

In response to the current situation, with so many of us working remotely, IDEA is offering a series of online sessions on delivering Development Education virtually.

When:  the first session takes place on Friday 27 March from 10am – 11.30am GMT via Zoom . Future sessions are planned for the week beginning 5 April (details to follow).

What to expect: In this highly interactive session you will experience effective, creative and engaging ways of using features of video conferencing tools and tools to harvest information such as polling tools, breakout rooms, sharing your screen etc.. The session will be focussed mainly on Zoom (as we will use that platform for the session). It is relevant for anyone who delivers virtual workshops. Staying connected with your participants during a virtual workshop or training is crucial. Therefore, you need to be able to make decisions about when, why and how to use which tool, depending on the context and the number of participants. You will be able to immediately transfer these new skills to your own practice.

We will also use the first session as a needs assessment for what IDEA members would like us to cover in future sessions – such as online ‘hosting’ of groups to create connection and trust, running a virtual conference, self-care and energy in the virtual space, delivering one-off workshops or a series of sessions etc.

About the trainer: Charo Lanao-Madden is a highly experienced trainer and coach based in Northern Ireland and working with people and communities in 15 countries around the world, regularly using online tools. Charo uses theoretical models and research and delivers training, facilitation or coaching in such a way that participants are fully engaged with their own experiences and emotions. Charo balances experiential learning with reflective practice, and tailors training by listening to what is happening in real time.

To register, please contact communications@ideaonline.ie by Thursday 26 March.

Cost : This training is free of charge. It is open to IDEA members only.  It will be recorded and shared after the event.
