GCE CHAMPIONS
IDEA is grateful to the Irish Government for supporting our sector’s work through the Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education Strategy 2021-2025. We also appreciate the many elected representatives from across the political spectrum, including those listed below, who have committed to championing.
Between late 2024 and early 2025, IDEA invited a range of TDs and Senators to sign a pledge to commit to being a champion for Global Citizenship Education during their term in office. In total, 50 TDs and Senators signed our pledge, including now President, Catherine Connolly, who was a TD at the time.
Global Citizenship Education Champion Pledge
Mindful of the unprecedented critical challenges facing our world, including climate change, poverty, inequality, conflict and fragility, I hereby pledge to be a Global Citizenship Education Champion. I commit to championing Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship as a means towards a fairer and more sustainable future for all.
