Partnerships for Development Education Day

Start Date: 19/09/2017 End Date: 19/09/2017

Event Location: IDEA Office, 6 Gardiner Row, Dublin 1

IDEA is hosting a day on working in Partnerships for Development Education on Wednesday, 20 September from 10.30am – 4pm, facilitated by Ruairi McKiernan. Ruairí is an award winning social innovator, campaigner, consultant, writer and speaker and has recently researched and written a toolkit about ‘Partnerships for Development Education’ with IDEA and our members.

Our first session of the day, Partnerships for Development Education, is a workshop facilitated by Ruairi McKiernan. Ruairi will present the Partnerships toolkit he has developed with IDEA. The toolkit will provide a starting point for a discussion on partnerships, and a space to explore our learning so far on Partnerships for Development Education. We will hear some case studies of Partnership from IDEA members, discuss benefits and risks of working with new Partners and also hear of IDEA’s experience of working in European Partnerships, both Challenging the Crisis and our upcoming Project ‘Bridge 47 – Building Global Citizenship’ from January 2018. This session runs from 10.30am – 1:00pm

Lunch will be from 1:00-1.45pm.

Our second session of the day,1.45 – 4:00pm, will focus on Communicating Development Education. This workshop will look at how we can communicate our Development Education work to new audiences, and particularly organisations that we would like to partner and collaborate with. We will explore some of the challenges and good practice examples of communicating Development Education and also identify priority training areas for the IDEA capacity development programme.

To register for the workshops, please email communications@ideaonline.ie. We hope that you will be able to attend the full day but, if not, please specify which workshop you are attending. All participants are invited to attend for lunch and will also receive a copy of our Partnerships toolkit.
