Welcome to our new website!

Welocme to the new IDEA website!

To celebrate the launch of our website we are inviting you on a treasure hunt … through the site. The treasure is the inspiring quote from Paulo Freire above, which is buried somewhere in the text on one of our pages. All you have to do is find it, send us the url (the weblink) and we will enter you into a draw for the fantastic prize of:

  • Free admission to an IDEA event of your choice between now and the end of the year!

Send the url (together with your name and contact details) to communications@ideaonline.ie. Please share with your networks and social media friends.

Our new website will be an important tool in IDEA’s communication activities, helping us to illustrate Development Education, to showcase good practice , to share the great work of members and to bring development education to wider audiences. However, it is not just a pretty face: the new website will allow IDEA to manage our contacts, event registrations and payments, and membership applications. There is also a dedicated private members space where IDEA members can access members-only projects such as the Baseline Data Bank. We have a full searchable listing of members AND an interactive map showing the location of members.

A big thank you to Marc and Odran from Blue Bloc who are responsible for the design and build of the site.

We hope this new website communicates the vibrancy and diversity of the IDEA membership. We look forward to your comments and interaction online!

IDEA is looking for a video production company/ animator for an upcoming video project. We have funding available to create a short animated educational video resource for members as part of The Code of Good Practice. The video will help viewers understand what quality GCE is and why it matters in the world today. The intended audience for the video are people who are connected to the Code of Good Practice and GCE in their work but not yet very familiar with it e.g. non-GCE staff in member organisations, board members of member organisations, teachers, youth workers, European partners, new members to the Code and new staff to IDEA member organisations. Please submit your CV and a short letter of interest outlining a proposal for the video (including the number of days you envisage and the fee) to code@ideaonline.ie. The deadline for application is Wednesday, 30 July 05pm. Click here for the full terms of reference.

In June, a delegation from our Erasmus+ partner organisation LAPAS (Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation) visited Dublin for a two-day learning and exchange visit hosted by IDEA. The visit was part of an ongoing collaboration with LAPAS to strengthen quality global citizenship education (GCE) in Ireland and Latvia, using the IDEA Code of Good Practice as a framework. You can find out more about the Erasmus+ project here.
