Carraig Dúlra: Designing Solutions Workshop

Carraig Dúlra research farm and Earthcare design consultancy, in collaboration with Comhlámh, are running a workshop that aims to bring Development Education and Permaculture together to develop real solutions to many of the issues we face today. It will run over two evenings 07 & 21 March in the Comhlámh office and two residential days in Carraig Dúlra, 07-08 April. 

This workshop will cover:

  • Solutions to many of the issues we face as a global community
  • Empowerment, Inspiration, Connection and nourishment
  • An exploration of the meanings of ‘development’, ‘sustainable’, ‘regenerative’,’justice’
  • Untangling the complex web of linked problems to find patterns and effective points of intervention
  • Turning problems into opportunities
  • Application of this thinking practically in our own lives, our communities and the wider world
  • An understanding of the basics of Permaculture ethics and principles.

It will be of interest to anyone volunteering in local or international contexts and those involved or interested in social and environmental justice issues. It will also serve as an Introduction to Permaculture course.

They are running the fee on a sliding scale to make the course accessible as possible: Waged €250; Low waged €200; Unwaged €100 and we have limited places available.

Dates: Thursday 10 July,10.00am-6.00pm and Friday 11 July, 10.00am-3.00pm Location: An Tairseach, Wicklow IDEA is thrilled to open applications for our second iteration of the IDEA's Lab. In this first of its kind residential Lab, we will create space where members can bring their ideas for projects and try out new planning and design methods. Participants will have the opportunity to work on an idea from scratch to (almost) finish with the support of expert trainers and learn through group exchange in a welcoming and inspiring setting. Participants will come out of the training with: An early project design proofed, tested and built through group feedback, iteration, trialling and support. New approaches in designing innovative projects they can apply to their workplace Headspace and time to work on the design of an innovative project A chance to actively learn through group exchange and strengthen the sense of an innovative community of practice in Ireland How? Non-IDEA members can participant as part of an IDEA member team.
